1. Purpose. To announce NSCC 2010 college scholarship opportunities and advise all commands of the Scholarship Application Forms.
2. Background. Reference (a) contains basic information on the annual college scholarships offered by the Naval Sea Cadet Corps. Criteria for submission are outlined in NSCC Regulations and the scholarship application form, both of which shall be adhered to for those submitting applications.
3. Discussion. The NSCC Board of Directors has approved another series of college scholarship opportunities for Sea Cadets during 2010. All cadets shall use NSCC Scholarship Application Form NSCADM 014 (on the resources.seacadets.org web site-NSCC/NLCC Forms) when applying for NSCC scholarships. If an individual has applied for a NLUS scholarship, the
- Two (2) Helen & Morgan Fitch Scholarship of $ 5,000 each as follows:
Two (2) from last year’s recipients will have a renewal of their scholarships of $5,000) if they have met academic standards required for renewal.
- One (1)
- Three (3) Harry Lee & Rose Howell Scholarship at $3,000 each.
- Two (2) NSCC General Scholarship as follows:
- One (1) funded by the NSCC General Scholarship Fund for $2,000
- One (1) funded by LCDR Gary Young, NSCC for $1,500
- One (1) USS John A. Bole (DD-755) Wardroom JO’s (1961-1965) Scholarship for $2,000
- Two (2) NSCC Board of Directors Scholarship
- One (1) $1500 scholarship provided by Mr. Nicholas Ricco in the name of his wife, Anna, for $1,500.
- One (1) $1500 BOD scholarship from Gaston / BOD Funds
- One (1)
Note: This scholarship has gone unfilled for several years. Minority applicants from
-One Captain Nicholas Brango Scholarship for $1,000.
Note: This scholarship is funded by Captain N. Brango family in his honor.
Additional Scholarships funded by NLUS Councils in Washington DC Area
-One (1) LCDR Henry E. Mooberry Scholarship for $2,500 (renewable for four years)
Note: This scholarship is funded by the Capital Council, Navy League of U.S.
The scholarship is for cadets in NSCC units supported by Capitol Council.
-One(1) CDR John Camp Scholarship for $2,000.
Note: This scholarship is funded by the Northern Virginia Council of U.S.Navy
League of U.S. in memory of Cdr J. Camp and is for a scholarship for a cadet in
units supported by Northern Virginia Council.
Commanding Officers are requested to give this information letter widest possible distribution and encourage interested and eligible cadets to apply.
